Wrapping Up the Guyana Energy Conference & Expo 2025 : A Defining Moment for Guyana’s Future! – Post 1 of 4

As Guyana Energy Conference & Expo 2025 comes to a close, I want to extend a well-earned “Well Done” to GEA and ExxonMobil Guyana Ltd. for delivering one of the largest energy conferences in the Latin America & Caribbean region right here in Guyana, one of the fastest-growing oil-producing nations.

This year’s conference reinforced a critical takeaway: Guyana is successfully pursuing a parallel track approach developing its energy resources while maintaining its status as a global carbon sink. With 85% forest cover, one of the highest carbon stocks per capita globally, and a commitment to sustainable forest management, Guyana continues to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility.

Gas-to-Shore: Unlocking Guyana’s Energy Potential
A key highlight was ExxonMobil President Alistair Routledge’s insights on the Gas-to-Shore project, which will:

·      Satisfy Guyana’s immediate power needs
·      Enable a fertilizer plant to serve Guyana, Northern Brazil, and Caricom
·      Support a future alumina plant and data centers in Berbice
·      Explore LNG technology to connect Guyana to global markets

This initiative will accelerate industrialization, enhance economic resilience, and strengthen Guyana’s role in the regional energy landscape.

Sustainable Construction & Facilities Management
Another highlight for me was catching up with Alistair while in Guyana, and as always, it was a great conversation! I had the pleasure of reconnecting with him to share insights on how H2 Asset Guyana Inc. is contributing to the country’s development by driving sustainability in construction and facilities management. I was also happy to share with him our broad focus, which goes beyond just practicing sustainability in the execution of our projects but also looking to include:
·      Embedding sustainability across the entire building lifecycle from design and construction to operations and end-of-life.
·      Building capacity and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders including government, architects, engineers, and developers to integrate green building practices at every stage.
Our discussions are always insightful, and I look forward to continuing them as we work towards a greener, more resilient future for Guyana.

A Look Ahead
As Guyana continues its dual approach harnessing its energy resources while prioritizing sustainability H2 Asset Guyana Inc. remains committed to advancing resilient infrastructure, innovation, and climate-conscious development.

Thank you to GEA, ExxonMobil, and all stakeholders for an insightful and impactful conference. I look forward to seeing Guyana’s sustainable energy future unfold!
