“Sharing my Story with Future Leaders of the Caribbean at the Caricom Young Professional Programme Business Breakfast Launch”
“Before you go anywhere—look in the mirror.”
That was my opening message to the incredible group of future leaders I had the honour of speaking to at the CARICOM Young Professionals Programme (CYPP) Business Breakfast Launch. I shared my journey from returning to Guyana as a young engineer, to taking a leap of faith through the CSME, and navigating challenges that shaped my path across the region and into international spaces like the Green Climate Fund in South Korea.
My message to every young professional in CARICOM:
· You were born with personal power.
Your personality, values, empathy, skills, knowledge, and experience these form your foundation.
· Grow it with intention.
It is your personal power that opens the door to positional power and relationship power.
· Leverage the CSME, but be prepared.
It gives you access—but you must bring the value.
· Learn to leverage setbacks as stepping stones.
Setbacks aren’t roadblocks; they are part of the preparation. Growth happens when you choose to rise, even when the path isn’t easy.
Today, I lead two companies H2 Asset Inc. (Barbados) and H2 Asset Guyana Inc., serving clients like Sol Petroleum, regional governments, and building sustainable infrastructure across the Caribbean.
Would I take the risks again? Absolutely.
Because my vision and destiny were always in my hands.
What meant the most, though, was the response from the young professionals:
– “It was great! Very motivational. I feel ready to go back to Belize and do something big.”
– “Everyone loved him. His presentation was the most impactful.”
– “He’s a real go-getter.”
– “Very!!! Everyone said he inspired them to be confident and just do the damn thing.”
To the young professionals of CARICOM:
Dream Big. Dare Yourself to Take Risks.
And never let anyone define your limits but you.
