Post 5 of 6 – Sharing the Harvest – Good Things Grow When Shared
There’s something deeply fulfilling about growing your own food but there’s something even more powerful about sharing that harvest with others.
As the garden began to overflow with fresh vegetables, herbs, and fruit, I found myself with more than I could consume. But instead of storing or selling….. I GAVE!… Probably will explore selling in the future but for now it is all about SHARING!
I shared produce with neighbours, friends, and even former colleagues like one of my long-time teammates from the Central Bank of Barbados, pictured here receiving a fresh batch straight from my garden.
It’s hard to describe the feeling of seeing someone light up when handed something grown with care, effort, and love. It’s not just about food it’s about connection. It’s about community.
This act of giving made me reflect on a powerful truth:
“Sustainability isn’t just about saving resources — it’s about sharing them”.
In this garden, I found more than just vegetables and herbs — I found joy, purpose, and the unspoken beauty of generosity.
The produce may come from my backyard, but the impact reaches far beyond the fence.
Stay tuned for Post 6 of 6 – Getting the Little Ones Involved: Passing the Torch – Because the future of sustainability lies in the hands of the next generation.
